What I Learned Last Week

Welcome to what I learned last week! I’m always learning something new. Whether it’s facts about herbs, a new recipe, or even learning something new about myself. We are complex creatures and we are constantly learning and educating ourselves and others. So why not share?

Last week started quite challenging to begin with and then by the end of the week I had a new kind of drive and energy. As someone who has struggled with motivation and anxiety it’s not always been easy to find that drive to keep going or know how to plan my days. And the truth is, we all struggle with this at some point in our lives. And I realized that what I was doing was not going to get me very far. So I had a little chat with myself. I had to figure out what I needed to change. What I found was that my biggest challenge has been time management. Taking on my tasks just day by day was not working. I need to push myself and challenge myself to keep going. But how? I’ve never been a planner type of girl, I always buy one and then never use it! I’m sure we all do that, right? But I do know that having structure is key to being self employed. So I sat down last week and I wrote out a complete schedule to guide me through my days. Even down to getting out of bed! As silly as it sounds, I can already see a difference in how I’m operating. It’s important to practice self discipline and control but it’s not always easy. I’ve learned that as tedious as writing out a detailed routine to get myself going and ready for the day is, sometimes it’s worth it! And that may or may not work for everyone. But the key is figuring out what works for you.

So if you feel like things aren’t going how you imagined or you’re having a hard time finding that drive, take the time to really talk to yourself and figure out what needs to change! It’s not only worth it but it’s important. We can’t always control things that happen to us but we can control how we handle situations. Whether it’s making sure you meditate every day or you need better time management, just sit down and figure out what it is that needs to change. Even writing out a list of different things to try. Trust yourself that deep down you know exactly what you need and make the choice to act on it.

Be kind, be curious, and I’ll see you next week!
